Place de Cherbourg, nord-ouest de la ville. Ancienne batterie côtière datant de 1851 et réorganisée en 1877-1878. En 1881, son armement était de 4 canons de 24 c et 8 autres de 19 c. Un plan nous montre deux emplacements supplémentaires pour canons de 19 c, à la gauche des 4 emplacements des canons de 24 c, ce qui porte l'armement à 4 x 24 c + 10 x 19 c. La batterie affecte la forme d'une crosse de hockey, le petit côté se trouvant à l'ouest. L'extrémité de ce petit côté couvrait de ses terres un petit magasin à poudre avec sas. La ligne des emplacements de tir commençait alors avec 2 x 19 c, l'angle de la crosse était suivi d'une ligne de 4 x 24 c puis de 8 x 19 c. Une seule traverse existait, elle séparait les canons de 19 c n° 8 et 9. Au-delà du dixième canon de 19 c, on construisit sous le niveau des plates-formes de tir un magasin à munitions bétonné dont le local de stockage faisait 12,6 m de longueur. En arrière des canons de 19 c n° 6 à 8, se trouvait le tertre protégeant le magasin à poudre initial auquel, en 1896, on accolera un nouveau en béton. Enfin, en arrière des canons de 24 c, on trouvait un réduit maçonné. Cette batterie ne possédait pas d'enceinte et son front de tête était en terre croulante. Le 12 juin 2005, nous n'avons pu que constater l'arasement total et très récent des infrastructures de cette batterie.

Ein Plan zeigt zwei zusätzliche Bettungen für Geschütze 19 c, links von den 4 Bettungen der Geschütze 24 c, was die Bewaffnung auf 4 x 24 c + 10 x 19 c erhöht. Die Batterie hat die Form eines Hockeyschlägers, wobei die kurze Seite im Westen liegt. Das Ende dieser kurzen Seite deckte mit seinem Erdaufschüttungen ein kleines Pulvermagazin mit Schleuse ab. Die Linie der Schießstellungen begann dann mit 2 x 19 c, dem Winkel des Schlägers folgte eine Linie mit 4 x 24 c und dann 8 x 19 c. Es gab nur eine Traverse, sie trennte die Geschütze 19 c Nr. 8 und 9. Jenseits des zehnten Geschützes 19 c wurde unter dem Niveau der Schießplattformen ein betoniertes Munitionsmagazin erbaut, dessen Lagerraum 12,6 m lang war. Hinter den Geschützen 19 c Nr. 6 bis 8 befand sich der Wall, der das ursprüngliche Pulvermagazin schützte, an das 1896 ein neues aus Beton angebaut wurde. Schließlich befand sich hinter den Geschützen 24 c ein gemauertes Reduit. Diese Batterie besaß keine Umwallung und ihre Kopfseite bestand aus bröckelnder Erde. Am 12. Juni 2005 konnten wir nur die vollständige und sehr kürzliche Einebnung der Infrastrukturen dieser Batterie feststellen.

De batterij heeft de vorm van een hockeystick, de korte zijde bevindt zich in het westen. Het uiteinde van deze korte zijde bedekte met zijn aarden wallen een klein kruitmagazijn met sluis. De lijn van de schietopstellingen begon toen met 2 x 19 c, de hoek van de stick werd gevolgd door een lijn van 4 x 24 c en vervolgens 8 x 19 c. Slechts één traverse bestond, ze scheidde de kanonnen 19 c nr. 8 en 9. Voorbij het tiende kanon 19 c bouwde men onder het niveau van de schietplatforms een betonnen munitiemagazijn waarvan de opslagruimte 12,6 m lang was. Achter de kanonnen 19 c nr. 6 tot 8 bevond zich de wal die het oorspronkelijke kruitmagazijn beschermde, waaraan in 1896 een nieuw exemplaar in beton werd aangebouwd. Ten slotte bevond zich achter de kanonnen 24 c een gemetseld réduit. Deze batterij bezat geen omwalling en haar kopzijde bestond uit verkruimelende aarde. Op 12 juni 2005 konden we alleen de volledige en zeer recente egalisatie van de infrastructuur van deze batterij constateren.

This battery had no enclosing wall and its head front was of crumbling earth. On June 12, 2005, we could only observe the total and very recent levelling of the infrastructures of this battery.

Pevnost Cherbourg, severozápadně od města. Bývalá pobřežní baterie z roku 1851 reorganizovaná v letech 1877-1878. V roce 1881 se její výzbroj skládala ze 4 děl 24 c a 8 dalších 19 c. Plán nám ukazuje dvě další postavení pro děla 19 c, nalevo od 4 postavení děl 24 c, což zvyšuje výzbroj na 4 x 24 c + 10 x 19 c. Baterie má tvar hokejky, krátká strana je na západě. Konec této krátké strany překrýval svými násypy malý prachový sklad s přechodovou komorou. Linie střeleckých postavení pak začínala 2 x 19 c, za úhlem hole následovala linie 4 x 24 c a poté 8 x 19 c. Existovala pouze jediná traversa, oddělovala děla 19 c č. 8 a 9. Za desátým dělem 19 c bylo pod úrovní střeleckých plošin postaveno betonové muniční skladiště, jehož skladovací prostor byl dlouhý 12,6 m. Za děly 19 c č. 6 až 8 se nacházel val chránící původní prachový sklad, k němuž byl v roce 1896 přistavěn nový betonový. Nakonec za děly 24 c se nacházelo zděné réduit. Tato baterie neměla obvodovou hradbu a její čelní strana byla z křehké zeminy. Dne 12. června 2005 jsme mohli pouze konstatovat úplné a velmi nedávné srovnání se zemí infrastruktury této baterie.
