Dépt 56 (Morbihan) Très important port maritime sur l'estuaire du Blavet. Chef-lieu du 3^e arrondissement maritime comprenant les îles de Groix, Belle-Île, Houat et Hoëdic, ainsi que la presqu'île de Quiberon. Toutes ses défenses (Port-Puce, Kernevel, Port-Louis) sont orientées vers la mer et s'étalent sur la côte vers l'ouest (Kergan, Talud, Locqueltas). Elles sont complétées par des batteries implantées sur les îles du large telles Groix et Belle-Île. L'essentiel des travaux a été réalisé après la crise de l'obus-torpille. Un rapport du Conseil supérieur de la Guerre, datant de 1888, propose d'installer "des" canons de 95 mm sur la citadelle de Port-Louis + sur le bastion 17. Pour ce qui est de la défense côté terre, elle sera, à l'instar des autres ports de la côte atlantique, confiée aux troupes mobiles, ce malgré des propositions de fortification permanente sur les hauteurs. On proposera en 1888 de supprimer l'ancienne enceinte et de la remplacer par un simple mur d'octroi. Nous ignorons ce qu'il en fut. Voir Loc Malo.
